Unlock the power of performance empowerment! – learn the mental skills that can take your performance to another level
What does MPEP™ teach me?
There are 4 foundational skills that every top performer needs. Awareness, managing Attention, a helpful Attitude response, and skilful Action – being able to choose your responses, even in demanding situations. These are the 4A skills.
By developing these skills, the program has meticulously crafted ways in which you learn to access powerful psychological mechanisms of change. Improving self-efficacy (belief in abilities), decentering/disidentifying from thought content and emotions, developing compassionate responding, enabling qualities of empathy and equanimity (composure within difficulty), ability to make effective reappraisals during experience and beneficial reflections to improve performance after experience, and building the capacity to approach difficult and demanding experience as opposed to avoiding.
Research at two major UK universities has shown that this can lead to participants achieving more psychological empowerment – higher level of belief in abilities, improved sense meaning and purpose in life, feeling like your actions have impact on performance, and being more self-determined. It offers greater self-awareness. Improved resilience – to external experience, and to your own internal thoughts, narratives and emotions. It provides greater self-regulation over thoughts, emotions and actions. And finally, enhanced emotional intelligence to understand and manage your own emotions and others’, and to facilitate more effective interactions.

Oliver Young, British Columbia Provincial Team, FIS Alpine Ski Racer, Canada
The mental practices that I learned on the program helped me to understand where I want my mental state to be during competition, and how to achieve it. Through this I’ve been able to become a more confident and focused athlete.
Charlotte Gibson, FIS Alpine Ski Racer, Canada
“After working with Stu, I noticed a lot of changes in my anxiety and how I dealt with it. Learning how to cope with my anxiety and its reactions, especially in stressful situations, has helped me tremendously in my ski career and in my everyday life.”
Lisa Whitwell, Top-placing Ultramarathon & Long distance runner, Canada
Before I was introduced to this “program”, I was anxious and stressed prior to any race and didn’t realize how much it was affecting my performance. During my time with Stuart, I’ve learned to recognize these emotions and have gained the skills needed to improve my responses. Learning to manage these stressors has allowed me to execute and perform better than ever. “Mindful meditation” is now a vital part of my life, whether it be taking on a big race or managing day to day stressors that affect training.
Lindsay Glassford, Professional Triathlete, ranked second for Triathlon in Canada
Stuart has helped me broaden my awareness of how impactful my thoughts are on my athletic performances. With his guidance and coaching I have been able to use that awareness to let go of thoughts that weren’t serving me as an athlete to make room for more focus, positive self-talk, and understanding. This has benefited me enormously, both as an athlete and in my life outside of sport.
